I joined ILA in 2016 fulfilling administrative and fiscal roles. A primary focus of my professional work is collaborating with county and state-level educational administrations to promote ILA’s mission and to share innovative ideas on the implementation of special education services in the least restrictive environment.
I also served in the United States Marine Corps and currently hold the rank of Reserve Sergeant.
I am happy to be starting my 5th year at ILA and my 26th year in special education. I have had experience working in both private and public school settings. During the course of my career, I have been fortunate to work with students with various ranges of exceptionality and learning styles. I pride myself on being able to bridge the methodologies of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) with my clinical training as a social worker to support students in reaching their fullest potential in academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development. My professional philosophy is encompassed by viewing the “whole child” in designing programming. Working collaboratively with professionals in various domains and with parents yields tremendous meaningful and measurable positive outcomes.
I started working with ILA as a special education teacher during the summer of 2007. I taught grades kindergarten through 4th. In 2019, I stepped out of the classroom to become ILA’s curriculum coordinator/teacher mentor. I also took classes to be the work-based learning supervisor to help our high school students gain work experience prior to graduating. When not working I love spending time at the beach and traveling to new (warm) places with my family!
